Quick Guide to Remove a Joey From Deceased Marsupial’s Pouch

1. Park in a safe area - well off the road for your safety

2. If the pouch is extremely tight, slide your hand between the joey and the pouch to cut the pouch with safety scissors

4. If the joey has the mother’s teat in their mouth - DO NOT REMOVE IT. Cut the teat making it as long as possible and place a safety pin on the end

5. Place the joey in a warm pouch - such as a pillow case, sweatshirt

6. Keep the joey warm and in a quiet place - if the joey is hairless keep it in your shirt if possible for heat

7. Call your nearest Wildlife Carer
